About Me

Slovak tenor Patrik Horňák was born in Trenčín. He studied at the Hanns Eisler School of Music in Berlin under the guidance of Professor Scot Weir, where he completed his Bachelor’s degree in singing. He pursued his Master’s degree in singing at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Stuttgart with Professor Teru Yoshihara. In addition, he earned a Master’s degree in clarinet performance at the Academy of Performing Arts in Bratislava, where he also studied at the Conservatory in the fields of clarinet and singing.

He made his debut at the Slovak National Theater in Bratislava as Sandrino in the opera Il Re Teodore in Venezia by Giovanni Paisiello and as Belmonte in Mozart’s opera The Abduction from the Seraglio in production by Ján Ďurovčík. At the Deutsche Oper Berlin, he appeared in the project Neue Szenen III. In 2019, he made his debut as Ferrando at the Wilhelma Theater in Stuttgart in Mozart’s opera Cosi fan tutte and as Toni Reischmann in the opera Elegy for Young Lovers by Henze. Again as Ferrando, he performed in a production by the Kammeroper München in Cosi fan tutte, which was staged at the Cuvilliés Theater in Munich. At the Easter Festival in Baden-Baden, Germany, he made his debut as Johannes Brahms in the world premiere of the opera Clara by American composer Victoria Bond.

Patrik Horňák regularly performs at German theatres. He has appeared as Tanzmeister and Brighella in the opera Ariadne auf Naxos by Richard Strauss at the Theater Pforzheim, Theater Ulm, and Theater Regensburg. At the Theater Pforzheim, he also played Jaquino in Beethoven’s opera Fidelio and Don Ottavio in Mozart’s opera Don Giovanni. As Gabriel von Eisenstein, he made his debut in Strauss’ Die Fledermaus with the Southwest German Philharmonic Orchestra of Constance. In 2023, he portrayed the lead role of Octavio in Lehár’s operetta Giuditta at the Musiktheater Vorarlberg in Austria.

In addition to his opera and operetta repertoire, Patrik Horňák is a sought-after concert soloist. As an Evangelist, he performed in Bach’s Christmas Oratorio in Tongyeong, South Korea, conducted by Rolf Beck. At the Berlin Philharmonic, he performed as a soloist in Schubert’s Winterreise in the arrangement by Hans Zender and in Händel’s Messiah. He has also performed as a soloist in Bach’s Passions, the Easter OratorioMozart’s Requiem, and Rossini’s Petite Messe Solennelle. In 2025, he will make his debut as a soloist in Mendelssohn’s Elijah at the Beethovensaal of the Liederhalle in Stuttgart.

In 2024, he appeared as a soloist on the CD album Sacred Music by Hendrik Tobi with the Belgian historical instrument orchestra Terra Nova Collective. He has collaborated with renowned ensembles such as Collegium Vocale Gent, the Stuttgart Chamber Orchestra, the Kammeroper München, the Karajan Academy of the Berlin PhilharmonicTerra Nova Collective, the Badische Philharmonie, the Southwest German Philharmonic, the Bamberg Symphony Orchestra, the Tongyeong Symphony Orchestra, the Utopia Orchestra, the Pardubice Chamber Philharmonic, and the Prague Chamber Philharmonic.

He has performed at prestigious festivals, including the Salzburg Festival, the Schleswig-Holstein Music Festival, the Festival d’Aix-en-Provence, the Baden-Baden Easter Festival, the Tiroler Festspiele, and the Bach Festival Leipzig. He regularly collaborates with prominent conductors such as Philippe Herreweghe, Teodor Currentzis, and Rolf Beck. He has gained additional artistic impulses from masterclasses with Margreet HonigLothar OdiniusBo Skovhus, and Rainer Trost.
